Fall Shows Announced
We have two shows booked for the fall. On September 25th, Kim & Reggie Harris will grace our stage. They bring a special kind of energy to their performances. In the afternoon, there will be a performance workshop for those musicians interested.
On November 7th we will have a rare Sunday Matinee show, featuring Maura Kennedy in her solo show mode. Maura has a new album out of solo songs. You may know her better from her vocals and driving rhythm guitar grooves playing with husband Pete as The Kennedys, but get her on stage alone and she rocks the house.

Thanks for a great season!
The concert season for Still River Concerts begins in the fall and runs until spring. This year we had Joe Crookston, Terence Martin, Rod MacDonald, Cliff Eberhardt, Bob Franke, Pete Kennedy and Siobhán Quinn & Michael Bowers. There was some amazing music made, and new fans for the artists. House concerts bring music to the community, and present it up close to a listening audience.
Artists love the format, as it allows them to connect with fans, both while on stage and over snacks between sets and after the show.
We have announced two shows for the fall, with Kim & Reggie Harris in late September, and Maura Kennedy in early November. We hope to see many familiar faces as well as newcomers in the audience for these fabulous shows.
During the summer break, we hope you’ll come out to hear us, Dan & Faith, at one (or more!) of our shows. Thanks and we’ll see you in the fall.

THE SELF OF A SONGWRITER (Michael) – 1:00PM – 2:30PM
The essential ingredient in songwriting is the songwriter as a person. Who you are, how you think about the world, and how you tend to yourself will impact your songwriting. In this discussion, Michael Bowers, who in addition to being a songwriter was trained as a therapist, will work with participants to define strategies for finding their unique voice and perspective. We’ll also talk about how to nurture and feed who YOU are as a person and a songwriter–because without nurturing we all become dry. You’ll leave the session with a greater appreciation for who you are as an artist, and ways to magnify and extend your creative expressions.
FLEXIBLE VOICE VOCAL CLINIC (Siobhán) 3:00PM – 4:30PM
This class is for road-weary, occasional and even “never before” singers, especially guitarists! Everyone has a unique sound from the physical make-up of their vocal cords/resonance chambers; learning vocal technique will help you claim your songs with your voice! Siobhán uses classical/modern technique as a foundation for vocal flexibility while helping you to maintain individual vocal personality. Siobhán is an encouraging teacher who will help you to bring out the best parts of your voice within each song you sing.
Pete Kennedy Concert and Workshop, May 1st
Pete Kennedy returns to Still River Concerts to do another solo show and workshop. His solo shows are always interesting, as he takes the audience on a tour of genders and styles, showing off the possible, and seemingly impossible on the guitar, ukelele, mandolin and whatever else he decides to play.
The workshop this time will be
“Six Things that will Improve your Guitar Playing Right Away”. Pete will show you exercises to loosen up your hands, basic open tunings, special chords that sound like open tunings, using the modes, using triads to play all over the neck, and we’ll arrange some ensemble jams. Aimed at intermediate players, any level welcome.
Pete Kennedy is best known as the guitar-intensive half of folk-rock duo The Kennedys, but his experience spans a wide cross section o American music/ he toured the US and Europe extensively with Nanci Griffith, and played an important role in the making of her Grammy-winning CD, “Other Voices, Other Rooms”, sharing the lead guitar duties with Chet Atkins and Leo Kottke.
He also toured for a year with Mary-Chapin Carpenter, and has played with the National Symphony, numerous Broadway road companies, including “Cats” and “Evita”, and was a house musician at legendary roots music club the Birchmere. Having studied with classical guitarist Larry Snitzler and jazz legends Johnny Smith, Joe Pass and Charlie Byrd, Pete is uniquely able to answer just about any question you might have about making the most of your love and enthusiasm for the guitar.
Bob Franke this Saturday

We still have seats for this Saturday. It’ll be a great chance to see and hear Bob up close and personal. Bob is a local musician who tours nationally. You’ll love his songs and his performance.
Drop us an email and we’ll get you on the list. Show is at 8PM Saturday, doors open at 7:30PM. Email or call in advance to get the details on getting to our house.
